When I was in high school, we were warned about the dangers of alcohol using something they called “booze goggles.”
No, this wasn’t about taking someone home from the bar and then seeing them in the sober light of morning — these were literal glasses that defocused your vision in order to show you just how bad you are at things when you’re drunk.
These were, of course, stupid, and every single person in that class went on to have a life full of copious amounts of alcohol, but it did remind you of how difficult everyday things can be when you can’t see straight.
Now, people are recreating that experience using a TikTok filter that turns their vision into a spinning whirlpool. The results range from ridiculous to painful.
